Dodgeball Tournament 2011

OVERVIEW:

The Revolution/Fuel Dodgeball Tournament is a specially designed marathon in which co-ed teams of 10 people play in a 4-hour long tournament on Sunday, January 9th. The event will begin at 5PM at the Rancho Sports Center.  Prizes will be given to the tournament’s winning teams and for the best costumes.  There will be a separate tournament for Jr High and High School.

THE REVOLUTION/FUEL DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT HAS A 3-FOLD PURPOSE:

  • The tournament is meant to evangelistic.  Please invite your friends from school, sports, etc.  There will be a short gospel message during half time.
  • To kick off the year and get you ready for Winter Camp 2010.
  • To crown the all-time greatest dodgeball team in the history of the world.

PRIZES:

-1st place prizes for each player on the winning team

-prize for best team costume

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:

As a Team Captain: Pick up a Captain’s Packet on Sunday morning or Wednesday night. Click here to download Team Captain Letter and Team Roster. Organize a co-ed team consisting of 8-10 people. There must be at least three girls on the court at all times, so plan accordingly. RULES:

  1. You must have 3 girls on the court at all times.
  2. If you are hit with a ball, then you are eliminated.
  3. If the ball bounces and then hits you, you are not eliminated.
  4. You may not cross the center line ever.  If you do, you will be eliminated.
  5. You cannot kick the ball.  It can only be thrown.
  6. If you catch a ball the person who threw it is out and 1 team member of yours comes back into play.
  7. If you are holding a ball, and you deflect another ball with the ball in your hands, you are not out.  However, if the ball you are holding is knocked out of your hands by the other ball, then you are out.
  8. If a ball hits you and then is caught by another person on your team before it hits the ground, then you are not out, the person that threw it is eliminated, and 1 member of your team returns to play.
  9. If a ball hits the side nets (boundary of the court) or the back wall, then that ball is dead.
  10. There are 6 dodgeballs per court.
  11. If you hit a person in the head they are not out and you are not out(continually hitting people in the head will result in ejection).
  12. Must be inside volleyball court lines to throw (but may leave to get balls).
  13. The players that are out must stand on the side lines.
  14. The person standing in the front of the line will go back in if somebody catches a ball.
  15. The same number of people from each team will start each round.  This means that if a team only has 8 players and you have 10, then 2 players from your team will sit out. Etc.
  16. No jailbreaks whatsoever…ever…ever…ever
  17. The ref on each court has final authority.  What they say goes.  Please respect their calls.
  1. Each round is 10 minutes long.  If you finish a game before the round ends, then you will play another game.  Only completed games count.  If each team has the same number of wins during the current round when the horn sounds, then the team with more people on the court is the winner of the entire round.  In the event that each team has the same number of remaining players, then the next player to be eliminated will determine the winning team.
